Another Successful Landlords’ Evening

The MorfittSmith Landlords’ Evening is an exclusive event which has proven hugely successful with our landlords. These events offer our landlords the opportunity to get some real inside information to keep informed about the biggest changes in UK property law and regulation.
Our first Landlord’s Evening took place in the second week of March, just days before the first national lockdown was announced. This was a ticketed event which completely sold out in the runup, giving our special guest speakers a packed audience.

We were joined by four guest speakers: Dean Castledine (CTA ATT TEP BA Hons), Private Client Senior Manager at Shorts Chartered Accountants; David Blunden (FPC CMAP) and Scott Woodward (FPC CMAP), Business Principals at Mortgage Advice Bureau; and our very own Business Development Manager, Rob Beal (ARLA NAEA).

Dean gave us important insight in changes in taxation, including the New Capital Gains Tax that came into effect in April 2020 and of course Stamp Duty, a principal consideration amongst property owners every year. Rob clued us all in on the imminent changes to expect in rental law in the UK, including: Section 21; the Electrical Safety Regulations Law; new EPC regulations, and the Tenant Fee Ban. David and Scott offered up their mortgage expertise on subjects such as updated lender LTV limits, legal deadlines for rental property changes, and how best to boost your property portfolio.

The evening was a huge success and, looking back, we feel very fortunate that it was able to proceed safely and in good time before COVID pushed our future landlords evening online.
